DETAILS FOR TRIP 4 (10 days)
Day 1: flight Denpasar - Labuan Bajo
Flight from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo. On arrival in Labuan Bajo there is
a minibus waiting for us to bring us to the hotel.
In the afternoon there is time to relax, to go to a nearby beach or to
wander around in Labuan Bajo.
Day 2: Labuan Bajo - Rinca island
After an early breakfast we go to the harbor where a boat is ready to
leave for Rinca island. The trip will take about two hours and we will
sail along different islands. If we are lucky we can see dolphins.
On arrival at Rinca island there is the possibility to do a two hour
trekking around the island with a ranger from the National Park. During
this trekking we hope to come across the Komodo Dragons, monkeys, deer,
wild pigs, wild buffalos and many birds. Afterwards there is time for a
cold drink in the restaurant before the boat leaves for Pantai Merah
(Red Beach). We will have lunch on the boat and there is time for
snorkeling. Around sunset we leave for Pulau Kalong to go and see
hundreds of bats flying out. Here we’ll have dinner and stay the night.
Day 3: Komodo island – Labuan Bajo
The next morning we have breakfast on the boat and afterwards we leave
for Komodo island where again we can do a trekking from two hours with
a ranger.
Lunch is served on the boat and on the way back to labuan Bajo we will
stop for snorkeling. In the afternoon we will arrive in Labuan Bajo
where a minibus will take us back to the hotel.
Day 4: Labuan Bajo – Bajawa
We leave early in the morning for Bajawa. On the way we can see the big
rice fields near Lembor and lots of nice views. In Cancar we make a
stop to see the rice fields in the shape of a spider web. After this it
is a short trip to Ruteng where we can have lunch. After lunch we drive
up to Ranamese Lake. We make a stop here to have a look over this
mysterious lake. One hour before Bajawa, in Aimere, we can see how
the local people make their traditional palm wine (Arak). We continue
to Bajawa and spend the night there.
Day 5: Bajawa
After breakfast we go to visit the relatively new volcano (Wawo Muda)
with his colored lakes. This volcano erupted in January 2001 and the
scenery is still fascinating. The trekking to the craters will take
around three hours go and back. After lunch we visit
the traditional village Bena. And as a nice ending of
the day we go and relax in the hot springs of Nage. We go back to
Bajawa where we spend another night.
Day 6: Bajawa - Riung
After breakfast we first visit the colorful market of Bajawa and then
continue our trip to Riung. On our way we make a stop at the tradional
village of Wogo and take our lunch at the hot spring of So’a. In the
afternoon we arrive in Riung where we will spend the night.
Day 7: Riung
We go out with the boat for a whole day of snorkeling, swimming and
relaxing on the beach in the national park with its 17 islands. We have
lunch on the beach. We spend another night in Riung.
Day 8: Riung - Moni
After breakfast we continue our trip to Moni. Just
before entering the city of Ende we visit the Blue Stone Beach. On this
beach and in the surroundings you can find the nice shaped blue stones.
In Ende we have lunch. In the afternoon we drive up to Moni to find
accommodation for the night. After dinner there is time to see the
traditional dance of Moni/Ende.
Day 9: Moni - Maumere
Very early in the morning we drive up to Kelimutu to see the three
colored lakes at sunrise. Here we walk up to a viewpoint and have a
spectacular view over the three lakes. Then there is the possibility to
hike down (one and a half hour) to Moni or go back with the
car. In the afternoon we visit the traditional kingshouse in
Jodpu and continue to Maumere where we spend the night. Here our trip
ends.
Day 10: Maumere - Denpasar
The staff of the hotel will bring you to the airport for your flight
back to Bali.
